The Climbing Zine, Volume 1 was edited and self-published (in black and white, on copy paper, and hand-stapled) by Al Smith III and Luke Mehall in Gunnison, Colorado in 2010. Smith subsequently moved away to attend graduate school, and Mehall took the reins on The Climbing Zine, Volume 2. He enlisted the expertise of Gunnison, CO copywriter and editor Lindsey Nelson (www.exactedits.com) and Gunnison, CO designer/illustrator Mallory Logan (www.go-roshambo.com), both of whom continue to round out the Zine team over a decade later. Luke now lives in Durango, Colorado with his Fiancée, Amber, and Hope, the official pup of The Climbing Zine.
The Climbing Zine strives to share the diverse voices, art, and experiences of our worldwide climbing community. Our stories are our lifeblood, and by sharing our stories we work to uplift our human experience, and amplify our connection to our natural world.
