Waiting for a storm to go or the sun to come,
or the doubt to go or new shoes to come,
or the pump to go or a move to stick,
or the snow to snow or waiting around while my body says no,
or waiting for my skin to grow.
Projecting is just waiting.
Waiting until I get my beta right,
or waiting for wind so the holds will bite,
or waiting all day just to climb at night,
or waiting, perhaps, for better weather,
or the muscle memory to put it together,
or to find a better resting stance,
or a stroke of luck, or another chance.
Projecting is just waiting.
Brittany Goris is a professional climber and unprofessional dirtbag, living on the road full-time in an endless pursuit of impossible dreams. She can be found climbing wherever the season allows for short shorts and long pitches, or at the mechanic, fixing her not-so-trusty Econoline van. In between adventures, she enjoys working remotely as a graphic designer, dumpster diving, writing, and beating you at Settlers of Catan. More tales of her climbing and life can be found on her blog, Center Toroidal.
